Meet the Director
Hi, my name is Maggi Pace and I am excited to bring Sycamore School to your nature lovers!
I grew up making forts in nearby woods, scouring the creek for bullfrog tadpoles, partaking in 4H garden programs, climbing nearby Tank Hill exploring all its rock features, and looking for fairy doors on the bases of trees along my childhood street. In all of that, I found a love for the escape to the natural world and the small wonders that can be found in and around our neighborhoods.
I truly believe it’s rooted in our DNA to be one with nature. As I got older, I fell in love with life science and Biology enough so to major in it and Environmental Studies at Wake Forest University. My junior year of college, I started dreaming of having an outdoor education center and store focused on sustainability and community. Once I finished my undergrad degree, I wanted to go a little deeper and pursued a M.Ed. in Environmental Education through Slippery Rock University.
I look forward to leading your student on a similar journey!
The School
Sycamore School’s primary function is to offer enrichment classes across a range of environmental education topics. These classes will be geared toward children and adults! We will aim to provide classes during school breaks, summer, and weekends.
Class options will include stand-alone classes, series classes, You+Me classes, adult classes, and partnerships with like-minded organizations.
